Fans are talking about Akane-banashi #2 — here's what they had to say.

Commenter

absolute rookie vibes lmao

Commenter

lowkey a stalker ngl

Commenter

straight into the dogeza folder

Commenter

his tee literally says "sokotsu" lmaoooo classic

Commenter

what kind of weird flirting is this wtf

Commenter

that guy who yelled about expulsion doesn't seem like a total villain tho, wonder what's his deal

Commenter

what a wholesome company tbh

Commenter

trading dreams for stability, but the soul is freezing. peak reality right there...

Commenter

these few cuts totally set up the plot and context, absolute godtier direction

Commenter

sure having a dad with a "real job" sounds nice on paper, but akane lived for her old man's rakugo man...

Commenter

holding onto a childhood dream since elementary school is wild dedication

Commenter

look how much they've grown...

Commenter

the last episode left us hanging so hard, so glad pops is alive... but in another way, his career totally died didn't it

Commenter

already doing thekouza?!

Commenter

akane choosing the hardest path possible is insane, respect the grind

Commenter

didn't even snap back when people gave her the "wait really?" look, such a good kid

Commenter

guriko-niisan is an angel fr. actually, all the senior bros in this sect are too nice.

Commenter

love that subtle eye contact directing right before stepping onto the stage, happened in ep 1 too

Commenter

wait how does a ponytail instantly dye the tips wtf... ok i shouldn't question anime logic

Commenter

wait you can do akouza before even becoming an apprentice? well kids' rakugo is a thing i guess...

Commenter

akane is stiff as hell lmao. rare nervous akane content

Commenter

bro is totally flying solo lol

Commenter

akane's voice is so good (i'm saying it twice cuz it's that important)

Commenter

"Manju Kowai", the classic of all classics

Commenter

ponytail akane is elite ngl

Commenter

this ain't amateur stuff "wait why does this feel so nostalgic... shinchang?"

Commenter

akane's delivery gives me strong "Wave, Listen to Me!" vibes lol

Commenter

the hand that listens is the hand that strikes (wait no)

Commenter

highway bus got him highway busted lmao

Commenter

getting more laughs than joshiraku rn

Commenter

kikuhiko totally bombed his first stage back then tho... 😮

Commenter

i'll gladly take this kind of exhaustion

Commenter

that breath tho *whew*

Commenter

this random person barging in is the scariest part ngl

Commenter

seen her in other rakugo shows before, but nagase anna's delivery is actually cracked

Commenter

manju kowai time!!

Commenter

WHAT!? she made nitsumai in just 2 years?? (wa)

Commenter

honestly didn't know nagase anna until she bagged that kaguya-hime lead, but she's grinding roles at lightspeed. doing this kind of storytelling at 21? absolute prodigy born sooner or later

Commenter

i can see it... i can literally see the manjuu

Commenter

oh damn, they actually mix in shamisen and live instruments for this?

Commenter

so being seductive means she's good at trap acting? (pause)

Commenter

god bless this show for explaining the rakugo lore so smooth even brainlet otaku like me get it

Commenter

...the gap between that enka-level haunting beauty and being tone-deaf is insane wtf...?!

Commenter

shiono akihisa's first time voice acting?? his va game and rakugo are both ridiculously good

Commenter

if an even better performer drops later, everyone's gonna forget the warmup acts tho lol

Commenter

nagase anna seriously deserves best lead va award this year fr

Commenter

"women aren't made for rakugo." is that why? men playing seductive women creates that crazy gap that makes the art pop more.

Commenter

first time as a va for shiono, but tokusatsu actors never miss. voice sounds a bit out of place since it's fresh, but the storytelling hit hard. then again i'm a noob so wtf do i know

Commenter

yeah no shit she doesn't wanna apprentice under the guy who fired her old man.

Commenter

"i was copying them in bulk so i ran late" bro actually meant it literally when he said bulk lol

Commenter

even the actual pros are doing mob casting lol

Commenter

the ED sounds straight up like kuwata keisuke too (cuz it is kuwata keisuke)

Commenter

wait kuwata doing the ED too?? bro is actually trying to become the final boss of anime songs...

Commenter

MANJU KOWAI!!

Commenter

ep 2 was so insanely good......... the direction for a rakugo anime is top tier, and the vas' storytelling just sucks you right in,,, absolute peak!!

Commenter

know zero about real rakugo so idk how to feel, but the rakugo parts definitely slap. pr... probably

Commenter

storyboard: yuu harima, direction: kofumi yamane, animation director: xenotoon... wait, another mega rookie staff?? ED storyboard: ayumu watanabe, ED direction: yuu harima, ED key anim: yasunari nitta

Commenter

totally clashing with "Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian" but since alya is on mbs the schedule is scuffed, might just watch akane-banashi mondays on at-x instead

Commenter

kuwata actually keeping up with anime trends to drop new tracks, what a legend

Commenter

that guy's rakugo has actual colors to it

Commenter

wtf is this akane-banashi ending theme, some random kuwata song just started playing out of nowhere

Commenter

kuwata keisuke never did anime ops before and now he drops 2 tracks in one season?? wild!!

Commenter

that quick shooting game cameo in the op, backgrounds lowkey look like xevious lol

Commenter

craving chestnut manjuu at this hour because of the ending... is this part of the training too?

Commenter

shiguma-shisho hanging out with young gals in broad daylight, good for him lol. akane's first stage went smooth, though kaisei-niisan completely stole the show. the rivalry starting up makes it so much spicier

Commenter

her acting tone-deaf is actually god-tier

Commenter

wait? the ending is kuwata too 😀 and voiced by akane-chan herself!

Commenter

watching akane-banashi after listening to papa's radio show, and wait, dad is voiced by lelouch?? man vas are just built different speaking that smooth

Commenter

akane's first stage "manju kowai"! her scared face was hilarious, and her eating air manjuu had me rolling! 😆✨ nailed it! 👍 lost to kaisei tho. hope she takes the W next time. hyped for next week's senior brother arc! 😃🎶

Commenter

so good! akane—wait, nagase anna's rakugo is insanely clean! all that prep time really paid off. especially the eating scenes, made me actually salivate for a drink ngl. source material is already amazing, but stellar va work elevates it to a whole new level

Commenter

manju kowai is the very first rakugo story i ever learned, so much nostalgia. never thought i'd see akane perform it in anime form!!

Commenter

anime akane-banashi is so good. vas must have a nightmare doing rakugo, but hearing it straight into your ears anime-style just proves they're absolute pros.

Commenter

ending theme "Akane On My Mind ~Manju Kowai" just dropped out of nowhere and caught me off guard 👀‼️ such a fresh and pop-tastic bop ♪

Commenter

watching purely for your oshi, only to completely forget they're a va and get sucked into the actual character and story—that's true bliss! gonna wear out my tver player

Commenter

was good, but the ED completely stole the show... so glad i recorded it...

Commenter

<IMAnimation> akane-banashi #2 "First Stage" done. did they only record the specific parts used in the anime for the dub? if they recorded the whole thing, i wanna listen to it raw without visuals!

Commenter

true, before the broadcast they only leaked the OP, nobody knew what the ED was. what a nice surprise. dropping the manju kowai reference fits episode 2 to a T.

Commenter

it's good, but the direction feels way too heavy-handed. i just wanna sit back and soak in the vas' rakugo performance, so heavy-handed animation and directing feel like they're getting in the way, kinda annoying.

Commenter

nice touch explaining the featured rakugo piece in the episode. speaking of famous ones, "Manju Kowai" is probably the GOAT. Doraemon's chestnut manjuu episode was totally inspired by this lore

The sheer voice-acting flex in the rakugo segments is blowing everyone away, and nobody saw that double-Kuwata Keisuke music attack coming.
