Here's a roundup of fan reactions to Daemons of the Shadow Realm #20.
Ngl, watching these fights play out in motion is way more brutal than expected, but the sheer chaos in the live tweets makes going through the agony of waiting another week totally worth it.

HOOK. The shadow of a new faction called the Western Village! Narrowly escaping a crisis for now! Ivan deflects Della's anti-materiel rifle bullet and controls the ricochet. Asuma makes a move, but before he can squeeze out who the mastermind is—Ivan retreats due to the recoil of Left's vital energy. The new character, Mineyama, is she a dung beetle Tsugai or a cleanup crew for bodies? The Western Village. Asuma gets told his smile looks shady by Azami lol.

20 eps done. So close for Asuma, he was this close to avenging his mom. But Ivan killing Hayato Shingo was probably less about Gonzo Kagamori stealing his Tsugai and more about silencing someone who knew too much. Total cover-up vibe. Anyway, Ivan definitely has some scary-ass people backing him up.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm Ep 20 "The Fugitive and the Pursuer." The fight with Ivan got so intense! Yuru, Left-sama, and Della teamed up and it was an even match, what an absolute beast of a boss. Anna Mineyama voiced by Sumire Uesaka also seems super troublesome, can't wait to see more of her~ The gap between the gag and battle scenes is peak!

Asuma really tries to play by the rules huh. Must've been hell trying to double-deal with that personality… High school girl… compressing dead bodies into balls and saying they "suit her palate"? Does Ivan's faction keep a man-eating Tsugai or something? The West is 90% a rival to the East Village. Can't even blame 'em for getting outplayed here… Oh, poor Asuma-san… (
Commenter
Ivan turned out to be connected to the "Western Village." Though, they haven't really explained how Ivan himself is so strong. His Tsugai's ability is temporarily draining the opponent's physical stats (like an energy drink), but his baseline combat power is all him. Like, what even is that guy, a late-night street chaser?
Commenter
Asuma and the Enma-cho combo can strip all info straight from the Tsugai user, but on the flip side, if you're the one trying to hide secrets, you gotta wipe out not just the user but the core Tsugai too. That Asuma and Enma-cho setup just racks up bodies whether they mean to or not.
Commenter
"A match made in heaven, huh?" Two blades cutting through sound, agility that hides his injuries. Yuru's hurt, but relief at Ivan's retreat is short-lived as Asuma faces a desperate pinch. Speechless at Ivan's skill in taking out Hayato alongside Yozakura in a single swing. Operation over, reunion time, siblings and fake sister gathering… smells like drama…
Commenter
Glad to see Ivan's power isn't completely risk-free, but wait, is he only feeling the effects because he drained Left, or is it normally like that? Also, the Western Village just being an employer while Ivan's basically a freelancer makes him way more annoying. Plus all these sketchy new characters rolling in.

Imagine getting kidnapped out of nowhere, locked in a blank white room, and the moment you get out, Akira Ishida is just sitting right in front of you…….? This isn't even child abuse anymore, you could sue and win 100%
Commenter
Hearing them mention the "Western Village" means the mastermind is over there, huh… Was just thinking about that and the ending theme already started rolling. Another super engaging episode as always 👍️

☑️ Self-administering high-energy forcibly pumped in to cause self-destruction (the feeling of slamming an energy drink) (heart is GONE) (heart is ANIME)
Commenter
Oooh I see! The stronger the opponent, the stronger the power you can swap, but the recoil is also insane. Kinda like Goku's Kaioken, huh.
Commenter
I mean, since there's an East Village, makes sense there's a West Village too. But Kagamori and the East Village don't seem to know a thing about the West. Do they actually know?
Commenter
Ivan has that Wrath-from-FMA level of strength. Though that old man is a totally different beast from Bradley.
Commenter
The security guard might lowkey be the biggest victim here. Really feeling the tragedy of "characters without powers in a power-scaling battle."
Commenter
He took Della's rifle round—well technically, the bullet Della fired got deflected and *that* ricocheted.
Commenter
Both Yosano and Mineyama are common names in "certain regions," so I'm wondering if they're fundamentally different from the Western Village faction or what.
Commenter
Wait a damn minute. Is Danji named after baby boy (danji)…? Just randomly realized this seeing Danji / Baby Girl in the end credits.
Commenter
Not the vibe I was expecting, but since it's voiced by Ishida-A-kun!! of course he's gonna betray us (wait).
Commenter
"There are no scary people left." "THIS GUY'S SMILE IS SO FREAKIN' SHADY!!!!!!!"
Commenter
WAAAH HE SPOKE AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!? (Normal reaction)
Commenter
"We couldn't capture him alive." (Bro, you were literally trying to kill him the whole time……)
Commenter
The guy from the East Village is such a good character, Sensei, please give him a name already lol.
Commenter
Given what happened with his mom, that totally forms the foundation of Asuma's whole mindset right now.
Commenter
In a sea of terrifying middle-aged men, Della is my only salvation. So scary, so scary.
Commenter
"Why'd you do it, Asuma!" The absolute nerve of him to say that with a straight face (
Commenter
Huh? Yozakura out of commission???? No way in hell I cannot accept this (´;ω;`)ブワッ
Commenter
What the hell, are these guys fighting Yhwach over here too!?!?
Commenter
Miki-shin is wild, going toe-to-toe with a Tsugai with just his raw flesh!!
Commenter
Fujin and Raijin are getting done so dirty wwww
Commenter
Guess blowing through mysterious magic power left and right is a bad idea, huh.
Commenter
Come to think of it, even rifle bullets don't scratch Left-sama. So damn tanky lol.
Commenter
Guards can't even see Tsugai so they have literally zero clue what's going down.
Commenter
Hard to believe, but this Akira Ishida has actually been on our side the whole time.
Commenter
Yozakura! That late-night chaser's reaction time and speed are way too cracked.
Commenter
Just stab the left leg too and we got ourselves some balance (Gotta keep it balanced, man!)
Commenter
If you kill someone from the Kagamori family, Ivan's dead meat for sure.
Commenter
Gonzo and Asa's duo is probably too much for even Ivan to handle though.
Commenter
Didn't expect the old man's screen time to end this easily…
Commenter
Do you literally have to blast these two into microscopic atoms to kill 'em?
Commenter
Wait, that recoil isn't from the sword Tsugai itself, it's coming from Left's vital energy?!
Commenter
Is *this* what happens when you chug a bucket of energy drinks??
Commenter
Akira Ishida getting called "this guy's smile is so shady" by a kid lmaooo.
Commenter
Fujin and Raijin got wiped out way quicker than expected without doing much……
Commenter
Even from Ivan's perspective, probably got sick of being bossed around like a lapdog.
Commenter
He parried it with his sword, curved the bullet's trajectory, and hit his own teammate?!
Commenter
Redirecting an anti-materiel rifle round is absolute madness.
Commenter
At least we know for sure Asuma is on our side, so that's a relief.
Commenter
Even just grazing an anti-materiel rifle round—keeping your arm attached is pure luck.
Commenter
Bro's cerebellum is totally scrambled, I bet only his hearing is still barely functioning.
Commenter
So Left's vital energy is the reason Ivan can't move?
Commenter
That security guard isn't just traumatized, he'll never feel safe again…
Commenter
Sunset Left-sama in the OP is genuinely so cool, gets my heart racing every time.
Commenter
He sliced through Yozakura, Fujin, and Raijin all at once! Way too broken~w
Commenter
Fast as hell no matter how you look at it… Ivan is just too OP…
Commenter
Being able to wipe away not just corpses but all the blood splatter too is way too convenient.
Commenter
THE WESTERN VILLAGE?!?!? The counterpart to the East Village, Tsugai…?!
Commenter
Ah, they kept saying East Village this, East Village that, but of course there's a West Village too.
Commenter
Asuma just *looks* sketchy, but you can actually trust him…
Commenter
There are no scary people here, just a guy with a super shady smile (sponsored message).
Commenter
Instantly shredding Yozakura, Fujin, and Raijin… Ivan really is built different.
Commenter
Shingo… getting his cranium chopped clean off while remaining a total scrub…
Commenter
If Ivan hadn't hit his limit, Asuma would honestly be dead right now.
Commenter
The security guard… poor dude. I feel so bad for him.
Commenter
Uesaka-san's voice for these sassy casual characters is just too good.
Commenter
Peak performance from the designated "shady smile character" VA lol.
Commenter
Shinichiro Miki overpowering Akira Ishida is so damn hype.
Commenter
Seeing it all colored and animated makes it hit extra gruesome……
Commenter
Kinda gives me those gross FMA Philosopher's Stone vibes again…
Commenter
The viewer-proxy high school girl's comments on Ivan are too relatable lol.
Commenter
Guess there really is a village in the West too. Figures, since the other was the East Village.
Commenter
Total match made in heaven, aren't they? Ugh, getting jealous ♡
Commenter
No way—!! This guy's smile is so shady—!!
Commenter
Man, that was nerve-wracking!! Total peace of mind for now, I guess.
Commenter
Miki-san playing an absolute scumbag is just the best, I love it!!
Commenter
Gotta watch it live just so I can catch Asuma's favorite facial expressions.
